The most ed Altimeter for Android that does not need internet to work!- Altitude estimation with three different methods to be always sure to get a reliable measure, even without internet connection.
- Historical charts to see your excursions elevation gain.
- Maps with peaks' name and contour lines. Pick elevation from any point on the map.
- Pictures with impressed place name and altitude.
Altitude can be estimated:
- With satellites triangulation. Slow and less accurate but it works even with no internet connection.
- Taking the ground elevation at your current position from a global elevation map.
- Using the pressure sensor of your device (if available). It calibrates itself on pressure from the nearest weather station to improve accuracy.
As additional PRO features you can also:
- compensate systematic error of pressure sensor
- a larger area of the global elevation map
- record altitude without opening the App
- pick elevation on the map with no limitation
- have no advertising

Great app. I enjoy using your app. Is there a way to add coordinates to a photo as well as elevation at the point of taking a photo? It might be that the coordinate of a photo is stored within the photo - not sure. I'm a volunteer for a community group and it would be great to have the coordinates on the photo to share info more easily. For example, we have fire ants, an introduced pest, and I've been working with government officials to identify locations of their nests for treatment.

I wanted a simple reliable way to tell my altitude when outdoors. This is it. I dislike too many features on an outdoor app as I often can't see the screen that well and touch options by mistake, eg I end up taking videos instead of photos. If you are older and need glasses for close detail and the screen is in bright light fiddly details on a screen are hopeless. With this one I get the phone out and soon know my altitude as best as possible. Next make an app that locks your phone settings!

Very accurate. Many s of GPS are not aware that the altitude given by GPS is based on a theoretical Geode of the Earth's surface. It can be up to 100' (33m) off. To get a correct altitude you have to have access to a database with the true altitude for every location. With that in mind, this app gets the GPS location (which is +- 5m for most locations on the Earth) and then finds the surveyed height. The location of my house is 227ft MSL and this app says 230ft MSL. Considering that I am holding it about 4' off the ground that is pretty darn good. It it is also cool that it also gives the altitude the current pressure is found in the Standard Atmosphere.

The app connected to GPS a couple of times after I had first installed it, but thereafter it has always failed to locate a GPS signal from multiple outdoor locations. Rebooting my phone, stopping the app, clearing the app data has had no effect. The location based altimeter gives a figure, but this information is available online for free. My phone doesn't possess a barametric sensor, do I cannot say if that part of the app works.

Full page ad popped after only about 20 seconds of trying it. Uninstalled. [Response] I'm sorry, but it happened the very first time I tried it and I had used it far less than 10 mins. I'm certain of it. Perhaps there is a bug somewhere. I looked at the 3 altitudes, then went to look at the settings, and the ad came up after I left the settings. I've been a professional developer for over 35 years--bugs are a part of the development life cycle. I sincerely hope you find the problem.

Update - this was apparently a temporary glitch - I've succeeded in ing these areas now. ------- I bought the Pro version today. I used it on a local hike today and found it to be accurate. However, when I later tried to several areas for offline use, only some of them successfully ed. One didn't respond to the arrow at all. Another displayed an outline of an empty cloud and did not proceed to . It appears that this app only works with certain areas.

The best altimeter I have found, and I tried loads. I am using it on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra so it can use the barometric pressure sensor. On opening it finds the nearest airport, s its data and uses this to update the offset. With this I get an altitude within 30 feet of true (best possible if using whole millibars). I had to get the pro version to set a calibration offset because my phone sensor was nearly 2 millibats out but that is fine. Most apps can't be calibrated anyway so I

Don't try to use it if you have internet access. The ads make it a painful experience. I used it in India without any internet and it was great. As soon as the app can access the internet, it starts displaying ads, rendering it almost useless
