This app is part of the Smart Armyworm project run by Rothamsted Research and ICIPE. It is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.Together with our collaborators at KALRO, One Acre Fund and CropNuts we are working to monitor fall armyworm all across Kenya (see additional PNGs if you can fit them in).
We have three different technologies for doing this
1. A radar which tracks insects as they fly 100’s of meters above our heads
2. Digital pheromone traps, which tell us when the moths are active in the field, ready to mate and lay eggs
3. This app, to help growers identify the insects in their field and link them to pest management advice from CABI
We always welcome your and you can us on [email protected] or on https://twitter.com/SmartArmyworm
The species recognition in this app is developed by a consortium of COSMONiO Imaging BV, Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Observation.org
