Recently got worse and more annoying. I've been using this app to see the news every day but when I watch a video from a news article, it buffers a lot and doesn't continue playing. I have to refresh the page and play the video from the very beginning, then the same thing happens again. My internet is fast and I never had this issue before until just recently. Restarting the app and clearing the cache doesn't work either. Please fix this app before I switch to another news source.

New version has closed captioning on by default for live broadcast with no apparent way to turn it off. Please add a switch to settings. Thanks. Also, captioning is way behind video which makes it that much more disruptive and annoying. When I switch to view NHK live broadcast in browser, it is OK. No closed captioning in browser view. Just a problem in the Android app.

Like other reviewers, I think the NHK news content is really fantastic, but unfortunately the app is broken on Android. Scrolling up/down is "sticky" and difficult, and often accidentally scrolls to the right (to the Earthquake tab). It makes it difficult to actually read the articles, as trying to scroll often incorrectly moves to another tab. It's a shame, as the app is basically not usable on my phone (Pixel 4a).

I absolutely love NHK news and their shows. However, since their update a few months ago, I'm unable to cast to my TV via Chromcast, which is so unfortunate. I would be watching so much more if I was still able to cast. My initial review before the change would be absolutely 5 stars. But since the update, I can only give 2. I can't watch as often, because without the chromecast feature, my battery on my phone drains substantially faster than with casting. Please fix so we can cast again!

Design flaw on Android, but other than that, good representation of NHK content. On my Samsung S10 (and on any Android) it is way too twitchy. When I try to scroll down to view more content, 80% of the time, the app swipes left or right (to the earthquake info tab). Obviously this is not what I intended to do. It's super annoying.

Recent updates have ruined this app, I hate to say. It used to play well and was easy to navigate, and you could even custom rearrange tabs. Now series episodes are all out of order, and I can't even play videos without the app closing after a minute or two. At this point, it's just easier to navigate their website on mobile internet! I may as well not have the app anymore.

I think the overall access to news and information is good and I like it. However I been very annoyed by the sliding controls. I hate it. You cannot easily go up and down on the main screen without jumping sideways to earthquake/tsunami screens. Can you not disable that option or at the very least make it optional. It may work fine for some devices but on my phone is very annoying.

Overall I really like it, once I can watch the content and in English, about the app, I'd like it to show what you've already watched, or, if you stopped on the middle of a video, for it to show it and start from where you stopped. As for the "idea" in general, maybe an option to choose between sub and dub, once I prefer subs, which also helps me improving my Japanese studying.
