It works but recently has bugs where you can't view security alerts and various notifications as when you do the app will lockup at the loading screen and attempting to manually access it in the app it will just fail to load. 1 plus year update: the unifi system is trash! ALL OF THE APPS do not scale UI properly. Equipment and software constantly updating and wiping out important data. Over 20 years in IT and i am gonna just recommend everyone go back to cisco and avoid Unifi for business.

I'm self-hosting a UniFi network server. Self-hosting can be a bit flaky. First, open the correct ports on the hosting machine. Second make sure "Remote Management" is checked to enable web and phone management. Finally run the controller as a service. After all that I'm happy so I gave it 4 stars. I'm currently moving to a dedicated UCG-Ultra with onboard management. This should make the entire network much more seamless from an install/upgrade and a management perspective

The app is good, and the router is great. However, setup was difficult and not as straightforward as it appeared. The app doesn't work at all set up the router on its own. You have to plug the router into another router that already has Wi-Fi set up. Then you can set up Wi-Fi for the new router, and then you can plug the new router in directly. Very convoluted. The section of the website is very confusing. I guess they have a bunch of other IT products they're trying to sell you.

The app has developed into something quite fantastic over the humble beginnings, and is critical for my home network management as well as day-to-day customer network management. It warrants 5 stars. But it will only get 3, because standalone setup is now buried and deliberately difficult. And that's knowing what I'm looking for. Walking someone else through it over the phone? Forget it. C'mon guys. Standalone shouldn't be this hard to setup/manage.

Love the app and hardware. Need a way to sort or change the order of traffic and firewall rules. It'll help a lot! Also, maybe a way to add a shortcut to the dashboard to help if the kids want more time online. Or a way to pause a rule for a specific time or amount of time and then it'll turn it's self back on would be extremely helpful!

Original 5-star review, "What will they think of next?" After pulling my hair out for years, the follow-up rhetorical answer is, "messed up controller data". Seems this app somehow corrupts the connection detail in the controller (i.e. switch port or wap details for client connections) and causes bogus/unreliable info until controller reboot. A bit of Google shows that this is a common and long-standing problem with the app, so it's clearly at the top of Ubiquiti's dev list to fix ;/

It's fine but needs polish. Some screens are slightly broken, things like back arrows not working. The dream machine isn't fully ed either. The dream machine bundles a controller, switch, and AP together, but you are not able to dig into those components individually which means certain functions are not available like configuring switch ports. Seems like it should just expose those just like you had separates. That would be more consistent in a larger network with multiple elements.

2021-07-03 doesn't work with self hosted, non unifi cloud sign in anymore. use the unifi web interface. It's ok, i have very low expectation of the ux of the app... and it's only getting worse with unifi 6 "new" interface. Talking about broken and missing function while forcing adds in your face for things you already bought.. instead of advertising better ways of using the products.
