Sporty's Study Buddy will prepare you for the FAA written test like no other study tool available, with three modes of operation - learning mode, simulated tests and flashcards.

Learning Mode allows you to create custom review sessions by selecting exactly which categories you want to review. Each session randomly generates the question order, and provides instant based on your answer selection. Each question also provides a detailed description as to why each answer is right or wrong. These explanations were developed by Sporty’s team of Master CFIs, based on their experience preparing students for the Private Pilot certificate

Flashcard mode tests your knowledge by allowing you to only see the question without the answer choices. After answering the question mentally, you can then select to show the correct answer, and self-grade your progress along the way. This is a great feature that keeps you from being distracted by incorrect answers!

Test mode randomly generates a 60-question session from the entire database of published FAA test questions, simulating the real Private Pilot test. After answering all the questions, you’ll be given instant results, and have the option to review either all the questions, or just missed questions. Included in the review session are the same detailed explanations for why each answer is right or wrong.

I used this app for a whole semester, then didn't use it for about 2 months. I tried to study after that time period and the app wasn't working. I clicked on all the options; like, flashcard mode, learning mode, test mode, etc., and it didn't give me the categories I could choose from before. It was just blank. I've tried to it again two times now and restart my phone, but nothing is working.

Great app. It was so helpful to be able to study questions whenever a had free time, wherever I was. Only complaint is the same as one other review I read. It would be very helpful if there was a virtual plotter feature somehow. Maybe like Google earth uses a two finger touch on maps to measure between two points. Other that that, I don't know that I would've ed my written without it!

I love the format. Love that I can quiz myself and have it take me back through only the questions I got wrong the first time. Love that I can study by category (or even select more than one), or take a practice test with all of the categories mixed together. Love the explanations for each correct answer. I was kind of shocked to get this much value out of a $15 app. Highly recommend to anyone studying for the exam, and even for those just looking to refresh their knowledge.

The app is great however, a virtual plotter would be helpful to determine distances and direction. I can't pull out a plotter that I happen to carry with me to get an accurate measurement. If not able to add a virtual plotter, make the locations closer together. Zooming can only go so far.

Very slow and glithcy app, unresponsive at times. If you turn your screen while using the app the screen will go black for a couple of seconds or up to almost a minute. Sometimes trying to scroll down during a test, the app takes it as clicking on an answer. I use it on a Galaxy note 10, on which no other app has this problem, ans with my daily use of this phone I know there is nothing wrong with this phone.

Can you guys add a random study session? So is not a test practice, but is it has combination of samples (the problem with practice test is that it doesnt give you the answer right that moment like study session does) (the problem with study session is that some of the question of a session i already know by heart so there is no need in doing that one again in order to get to the ones i dont know) or can you keep track of the ones i struggle with and review does more. This app has modes of review that really helped me out a lot. The practice exam that let me review my wrong answers was a great feature! The option between multiple choice or flashcard was a great option that made things more interesting and challenging. This app is great!

Learning history needs to display category name(s) in the list. Learning mode selection prompt should display if you have previously taken the category of questions or even better, how many times taken. End of session prompt should be done on pressing next button of last question because you want to read all answer comments after final selection. Otherwise, good app so far...
