Everything about this app has been well thought out. Excellent interface design. Excellent implementation. Pleasant variety of exercises. Five stars for that. Minus two for falling short on the important aspect of content quality control. I'm trying to study Japanese with this app and sadly, the number of translation mishaps I've encountered are inexcusable.

It's good for beginners but if you are just trying to brush up what you know like I am, this app doesn't seem to have a way to speed up the process of where you want to learn like Duolingo or Lingodeer which I think is a huge disadvantage. Also, some of the words are without context, which is very important in Japanese society. You might actually be setting yourself up to look very rude. If this app is going to start you off with basic Japanese, they should focus on formal Japanese first.

The interface is great, and the intro lessons are very informative. My only concern that I've noticed is that right off the bat the app seems to be teaching informal Japanese instead of formal (e.g., -da verbs instead of -desu). I'm still not even N5, so please take this with as much salt as you want, but I feel like teaching starting from the polite form should be warranted. In addition, the verbs as written don't clarify they're informal. That's my only complaint in an otherwise solid app! よくやったね!

Seems like it might be good I liked the addition of learning hiragana. The sentences were oddly constructed in places though some of the words ran together when they shouldn't have and others were separate that shouldn't have been. Theres were spelling errors in places. And this was just in the basics. Which is all you can access without a subscription.

Ok, I've played a couple of lessons, while I'm not a Japanese master whatsoever, I have JLPT N4 degree, so my opinion is based on that fact. The idea is great, and the experience overall is good, also it is very affordable. However, I felt like there are some questions where the hint is so obvious you don't even need to know something to answer them. For example, they ask you to match numbers, that's ok, but it definitely doesn't work when they include and image with the number on it, if you are asked to translate "thirteen" to "じゅうさん", you just pick the image with "13" written on it. Also, I felt like there's is too much romaji, maybe a little less would be better.

So many flaws in this program. But the worst part is you'll have a "speaking" and "writing" tests in every part. You can easily cheat the system for writing by pressing "Skip" and racking up a lot of points. Additionally, the Speaking system is awfully programmed, and many times you'll pronounce things wrong but still get points. Alternatively, you'll pronounce things right, even get local Japanese to speak, but the program will give it %0 score. So Simya solutions is good in taking money. Regarding apps is a whole different story. Use LingoDeer or something else.

Very useful app! I use it for Japanese and I recommend it for practicing new situations and vocabulary. I also use it to keep learning kanji reading and practice grammar in daily life situations. I'd say some basic knowledge of Japanese is needed but it should not stop you to have your own experience. Every new update has been better than the last one.

Absolutely phenomenal app. Feels very similar to Duolingo in of teaching but also allows you to practice saying the words and sentences from each lesson. My only complaint is that for learning Japanese there is no option to turn the translation from Romanji to Hiragana. I heavily try not to use Romanji as I end up memorizing the word in English instead of native Japanese, plus using Hiragana over Romanji helps in pronunciation and understanding of words.
