I primarily ed this to listen to NPR podcasts. My main complaint is that after only a few minutes of the app being idle, it will take you back to the home screen and you will lose your place in the podcast. You have to go back to the list of episodes, select the episode again and then scroll forward to where you were in the podcast. Very inconvenient when driving!

Update: No National Newscast, the app launches on some random program despite clearing the cache, force stop and relaunch ): As many reviewers have reported, the app launches on its own on Android phones whenever the phone exits Bluetooth mode. I've had to uninstall the app multiple times for this reason. I can't have NPR start playing out of the blue during meetings! This has been going on for at least 2 years. I don't understand why the developers are not addressing this major issue.

The app hangs about every 80 seconds. I have to press pause then play to get it going again. This is on a pixel 7 pro while connected to my car, both with a USB (Android Auto) or just BT. It is very frustrating and dangerous while driving. Please fix your app @NPR! UPDATE: I just upgraded to a pixel 9 pro XL and the issue is still there. It seems to be worse when using Google maps at the same time. It is pretty bad. Makes the app unusable.

I like having a single access point for both listening to NPR podcasts and live. My one issue is that the station bumper seems to occur during any connection interruption (e.g. switching between Wi-Fi and cellular) which happens frequently during my commute by train. This often causes the station intro to play up to 3x in a minute which is a horrendous listening experience.

The app is okay but not great. if you listen to part of an episode and come back a day or two later you find it doesn't keep track of your position. I'm not sure when this changed. it used to keep track. They also have a lot of "press this button" to listen now for episodes, which is horrible for driving in a car.

2024-09-12; playback is archaic. should have a back button that serves as history like browser and forward but that doubles as playlist and queue... in one place. designers need to stop putting options in every corner they can find like a hoarder at the same time have an anemic controls. if you can't decide just put a toggle for advanced vs simple controls. take off the black turtleneck! much potential to lead the industry beyond a radio interface.

The app has become glitchy and refuses to work half the time ever since switching to NPR from the NPR One app. As of right now the app is practically unusable. Autoplay doesn't work even when it's the option is toggled on, when I'm listening to the app, it will stop playing during the middle of a program all the time, and when you try to play a new podcast, It will take forever to start or not start at all even when on Wi-Fi.

The sound is set too fast. I had to complain it was impossible to understand. Now they have a popup telling how to fix their error. It's hard to find the shows I was in the middle of even though I put it on pause. You have to the name. While listening programs tell you to tap your screen to listen more. Tap where? Why? What do they want me to tap? It's usually closed and when I open it, no clue what they want touched. Some shows just roll on to another. Others I realize after the sound
