SW Maps is a free GIS and mobile mapping app for collecting, presenting and sharing geographic information.Whether you are conducting a full scale GNSS survey with high precision instruments, need to collect large amount of location based data using nothing but your phone, or just need to view a few shapefiles with labels over a background map on the go, SW Maps has it all covered.
Record points, lines, polygons and even photos and have them displayed over your choice of background map, and attach custom attribute data to any feature. Attribute types include text, numbers, an option from a predefined set of choices, photos, audio clips and videos.
Conduct high accuracy GPS surveys using external RTK capable receivers over Bluetooth or USB Serial.
Draw features on the map by adding markers, and measure distance and area.
Reuse the layers and attributes of a previous project for another survey, or create templates and share them with other s.
Share the collected data with other s as Geopackages, KMZ or shapefiles, or export them to your device storage. Also share and export recorded data as Spreadsheets (XLS/ODS) or CSV files.
Features
-Online Base maps: Google Maps or Open Street Map
- for multiple mbtiles and KML overlays

Easy to use and set-up. I can't get ntrip to function (401 unauthorized). Tried clearing cache & cookies on browser reinstalling this app. Be awesome if you could help me out here, I've tested other ntrip apps and managed a connection to my sparkfun receiver via Bluetooth then ntrip. Be easier if I had every feature functional instead of looking at two apps. Appreciate if you get back to me so I can change the rating to 5 star 😁

This would be perfect if it could display vector layers (kml) on top of my own offline raster base layer (mbtiles). I can add both layer types, but no matter how I order the layers, the vector layer is never visible while the raster layer is displayed. Without that ability it is useless to me as I need to be able to work offline in the field. Am I missing something? Also, shapefile versions of the vector files never display, even though they are in the same coordinate system as my kml versions.

This App is already good and has great potential for further evolution. Very similar to LocusGIS but free and with unlimited layers. There are a few areas where LocusGIs still has the edge where SW Maps could improve: 1. Adding features by drawing requires the to press the screen at the required location. Aligning a crosshair at the centre of the screen with the chosen location is much easier and more accurate 2. Measuring - there doesn't seem to be any measuring tool (?) 3. when creating lines and shapes it is helpful if each sector displays the distance in the selected units 4. The editing of lines and shapes is much more difficult. LocusGIS provides bigger targets at the shape/line apex to grab and also shaping nodes to allow points to be added in-between the original vertices 5. Importing KML/KMZ files has some flaws e.g custom icons are not displayed, embedded photos are not displayed. 6. It would be nice to see a list of all items within a given layer with the option to edit/delete them from the list view or change the order in which they are drawn (for overlapping features) I am sure these refinements will be added over time, at which point I will review to the coveted 5 stars. Keep up the good work guys!

The app has a reasonably simple interface for simply recording tracks - which is my primary use case. However, once you draw a track, it shows no details such as start and end time, time traveled, etc. I guess you can get all that from looking into the kml file in detail, but my use case is simply to track my drives using a simple app that gives me all this info automatically once I hit end. I'm sure the app is very useful for what it is meant for, but it is not meant for my use-case.

This app is really amazing&has a lot of potential for field work and surveying projects. The only thing that I am wondering (not sure if this really isnt possible yet, or if I am missing something): when you add layer attributes, I cannot modify them anymore afterwards. Also I cannot change their order (would be nice to have a drag and drop). That means if I add a layer attribute&made a mistake, I would have to delete the whole thing and make it new. Any chance you can change&improve that?thx

SW Maps enables you to do GPS/GNSS data logging on the fly. Design a data dictionary in the field as you collect. This was a big point for me. Most other data loggers require data dictionary creation in the office or online prior to collecting. Also, I can email a shapefile to myself whenever I want. I have not yet used the external GNSS options, but I look forward to doing so soon. I also want to add that I'm thrilled SW Maps is a product of Nepal!

Amazing app, thank you for your efforts. I am using it for archaeological GIS recording and it is really good for it. My equipment (Leica Zeno GG04) connects to the phone via bluetooth and all the RTK corrections come straight from that app (location mocking). That means that if I connect the antenna using your app via BT I do not receive the corrections that the app performs... And only by connecting via your app I can set an instrument height and this is my issue. Could there be an instrument height setting that can be applied outside this connection? Thanks for the great work. Calin

This is pretty nice, but 2 things that seem like they might keep me from using it for my little task (amateurish mapping of plants and other features in a nature reserve are: 1) no apparent capacity to add as many photos as you want (could of course add features photo1 photo2 etc, but mapit gives you a list with a button to see it or not). Comments on photos would make it even better. 2) a lot of stuff at the top of a feature record that I usually don't want to see (visibility toggle?)
