Utiful is the photo filing system that Google forgot to build in Android.Frustrated that Google Photos mixes everything—and won't let you create real order?
The Google Photos app won’t let you truly organize your pictures. You create an album, add photos—and they still stay in the camera roll. You delete them from the camera roll, and they disappear from the album too.
That’s why we built Utiful.
Unlike Google Photos and other gallery apps, Utiful lets you:
• Move photos out of your camera roll and away from the Android Gallery—finally!
• Sort your photos into separate categories—work, hobbies, personal, and more.
• Keep utility photos like documents, receipts, and IDs out of your main gallery.
• Keep your main gallery clean and tidy.
How Utiful Works:
• Use Utiful to move photos out of your camera roll and save them to Utiful folders.
• The photos are removed from the camera roll but kept in your Utiful folders.
Utiful’s further unique features include:
• Save photos to Utiful folders straight from the Photos app and from the Gallery app.
• Take photos with the folder camera that save directly to the folder.
• Manually rearrange photos in a folder—just the way you like.
• Customize the icons of your photo folders with emoji symbols and colors.
• Keep your Utiful folders on internal storage or SD card.
• Protect your Utiful folders with a code lock or fingerprint.
• Import/export photo folders from/to your computer.
Who Uses Utiful:
• Professionals & freelancers keeping work photos separate from personal ones
• Contractors & service providers managing before/after project pictures
• Doctors & lawyers organizing reference photos, evidence, and case documentation
• Hobbyists & creatives storing inspiration, artwork, and craft ideas
• Everyday s organizing screenshots, receipts, IDs, and notes by category as well as reference pictures such as haircuts, clothes, fitness tracking, songs identified with Shazam etc.
Quick Start Guide:
1. Open Utiful, tap "Add Photos", select photos from the camera roll and tap "Move".
2. Or, while in the Photos app or in the Gallery app, select photos, tap Share and choose Utiful.
• No Internet required: You can keep organizing your photos offline without any problems.
• No lock-in: Everything you move to your Utiful folders remains on your device even if you delete the app.
• No ads: Enjoy undistracted productivity when organizing your photos.
All photo, video, GIF, and RAW formats are ed. Original image quality & metadata are preserved.
The full feature list and ’s Manual are available anytime in the app’s settings.

Changed to 5 star, as the issue was on my S24 Ultra device and the developer were in constant touch with me to get it resolved, found the solution with their assistance. I have been using this app on my iPhone and it's one of the app i use daily on my work place to keep the temporary and work related images aside despite adding it to my gallery. Easy to segregate and quick to find any image. If you deal with images this is the app for u.

This app is exactly what I needed and the only one I found that allows me to organize my photos in colored coded folders. During setup, I chose to put the folder in Google Drive instead of on my phone for backup and recovery. I haven’t had any issues. I can easily find my photos instead of forever scrolling to find one! I would love a larger color selection for the folders in the future, but I'm so grateful this app exists. Huge thanks to the app developers!

This app was a good app for a temp use and seemed promising until my phone crashed and I couldn't find it again. Samsung galaxy store had it on file as one of my used apps. I finally found it after years of searching. It was somehow able to save my videos on my new devices and taking up all my storage on that device and every device there after. I don't recommend this app at all for that reason. Also to delete all that storage was next to impossible.

This is the only good app I've found that allows me to move (not just copy) image files into custom folders in my Android's storage. I then sync my Utiful folder with my Dropbox using the FolderSync app instead of using Dropbox's native sync. Some reviews say that this app deleted their photos—that is simply not true. Rather, this app MOVES your photos into whichever folder you specify, and due to the way Android phones work, your default Gallery app may no longer "see" them. Utifil is awesome!

This app does everything it promises. It is AMAZING!! It literally changed my life with photos! Now when I want to show others specific pictures, no more endless time-consuming searching☺️ I know everything that I always search, but not where they are. No more! Now I have neat, organized folders with clear and related emojis. If you want to organize and simplify your photo searching this is the app to do it!

I've had this app for a long time, on numerous phones. It does exactly what it says it does. The only thing it is lacking and something I'm hoping very much will be featured in a future update - is a dark mode & customization options like colors on more then just folders. That's the only thing that has stopped me from buying the version, if it had those features I would have done so long ago! Regardless thank you for such an amazing app and keep up the good work!! ❤️

It is pretty good for what it is and certainly for the price. | Issues: - It constantly opens new windows of itself when performing certain tasks. So if you look at the apps you have open you'd see multiple instances of Utiful. This leads to some wonkiness from time to time and could affect phone performance - Higher-than-average slowness and stuttering | Features that would be nice: - Reverse-order searching - Being able to set images as folder icons - Auto replay for videos

I attempted to use this app to sort through my photos, but it took them from my main photo storage, making them unacceable in other apps, and when I deleted the app, ALL OF MY PICTURES WENT WITH IT. It doesn't keep the photos on your phone, but instead stores them in the all itself. I'm furious and distraught as I had important and irreslaceable pictures I was trying to sort through and back up. :/
