Already enjoyed by over five million families, Learn to Read with Tommy Turtle is a delightful game that invites preschool-aged children to blend sounds into words, read and form simple words, identify spoken words and learn word families.

Its six sections include:

Magic Letter Bridge: kids learn to blend letter sounds into words by moving Tommy the Turtle across the letter bridge

Skateboards and Helmet: children practice reading as they are asked to fit Tommy's animal friends with skateboards and helmets
.
Turn the Blocks: kids make words in a way that's fun by turning real-looking blocks with letters on each side until the word is spelled out.

Word Ball: children learn to identify spoken words by helping Tommy bat the right ball

Word Magic: kids learn about word families as they fill the corresponding pot with potion and watch magic happen

Rocket Words: children get to practice word families as they assemble and launch a rocket into space

If your children do not know the alphabet sounds yet, we recommend our Learn Letter Sounds with Carnival Kids app. And if your kids need to learn or practice the names of the letters, try our Learn ABC Letters with Captain Cat app.

Every section is designed to let children enjoy success time after time and receive positive reinforcement from the likable teacher, so they want to keep learning. Once your child is involved and happy, you can relax, with the assurance that he or she is having a great time - and learning.

One of the best free kids apps for simple phonics. It's not extremely extensive but it's great for just learning to put letters together to form words

It is one of the best app to help ur child learn read phonetically. I searched and tried multiple app and my search came to a halt here. How a word pronounces slowly & then properly, kid learn that way. My 4 yr old son started reading 3-4 letter words even before we could taught at home or in school. I tried intellijoy other apps after it and finally I bought lifetime version of it as all the app in lite version were very good. No loud music/light but still attractive & educational enough 4 kid

My son loved the games, especially the rocket, word ball, and potion games. This was a great way for us to get some extra practice! I wish there was more "leveling", ie the words getting harder as you put together more toys, maybe moving from CVC to CCVC/CVCC words. They do this is the words block game, but would have liked to see more of that across all the games.

Not very good. As other reviews say, it is limited on games which really isnt that big of a deal. My concern is, I paid for the full version and it went from words like ant, bat, cat and dog to things like hen and log. How is a kid going to learn when they have not practiced these words. First 3 games are very useful because they have a chance to sound the words out, not the same for the others

Only reason why gave 3 stars is that my kid gets bored of it really easy. They should have it being more "catching" for kids. They should also change the leg into an actual leg not a foot!(my child said that)

Complete realtime playing competitively with other players always and cooperatively realtime playing time assuredly with others anytime very cool gaming conceptually solidifying

Once all the toys are built, there is nothing else for my son to do on the app.. And he doesn't want to rebuild all of them again.

Absolute joke. You have to buy this app and then pay a monthly subscription. Do not get tricked by this manipulative company.
