When paired with a compatible Garmin Varia radar device¹, the Varia app has the tools you need to ride with confidence. Using the Varia app, you can:• Be alerted right on your phone when approaching vehicles are within 140 meters behind your bicycle.
• View color-coded alerts based on surrounding traffic: Green means you’re all clear, yellow means a vehicle is approaching and red means a vehicle is coming at you quickly and you should take caution.
• Receive tone and vibration alerts for approaching vehicles even when you’re not looking at your phone.
With a compatible Garmin Varia Radar Camera Tail Light or Garmin Varia Vue Camera Headlight, you can:
• Set the camera in the best position for capturing videos and photos.
• Record videos or take photos and save them while riding with a simple button press on your phone.
• Automatically record videos of incidents and save the video footage with the Incident Recording feature.
With a Varia Vue Camera Headlight, you can:
• Configure light mode configurations for your headlight.

Total waste of money, app doesn't connect properly to the Varia. Connected firat time then , then disconnected and wouldn't connect anymore. Even uninstall and reinstalled didn't work. What a piece of junk. The one time I needed it to work, when I got hit by a car, camera wasn't recording and I can't even connect to the app anymore... Camera wasn't hit or damaged by the accident in case anyone wondering

I almost didn't buy the Varia radar because of the negative reviews of this app. They must have fixed all the issues by now. In about 500km the app has never disconnected even once during normal usage. And when it does (e.g. when you disconnect the radar), it gives a clear, immediate message that it lost connection. The app has not missed a single vehicle and is 100% reliable. The sounds are well thought-out and battery usage is also very low because they kept the design as black as possible. 👍

Terrible app. Every time there are problems with Bluetooth connectivity. Makes the Garmin varia rct715 useless.

Similar to everyone else, terrible ! To get it running you have to have the radar on first. Then if you turn your screen off it doesn't take long for it to drop the connection. Then it does not try to re-establish connection until you turn your phone screen on. Forget about playing other audio. When with option to play over other audio, it doesn't. And if you get to far from your unit, like getting a coffee, it drops the connection and doesn't reconnect. Use RideWithGPS ! it works great

Good display and audio tones to indicate when stuff is coming up behind you. When I'm just using the radar, the app will still ask for location info, but you can just decline and it will still work normally. I wish there was an option to disable the location message but it's just a mild annoyance.

It is 100% accurate for warnings when cars come from behind. It makes bike riding much safer. I can use it and also listen to Spotify. I do lose my app ability that I normally use that shows my riding metrics. If Garmin reads this, please consider adding a window the bottom 25% of the screen showing key riding metrics (speed, distance, ave speed, time riding) and this will make it a perfect cycling experiance. Consider having that data fed by Garmin watches. I use a Forerunner.

Nice unit works great for me. MAJOR fault is the warning sound is inaudible. With street noise you can't hear it and it only beeps softly once. It needs to beep louder and for a longer duration. Better yet let us set the sound we want to hear and for how long. That would make it perfect. GARMIN please fix this. I still like it in conjunction with a rear view mirror. art
