This app has breathed new life into imperial assault for me. Always wanted a "true" coop mode. I was extremely sceptical when I read that the app doesn't directly control individual units but I understand why they did it like that and I have to it it works a lot better than I expected. The one thing that I found really lacking in campaign imperial assault was the storytelling. This also seems to have improved a lot, but I have only played 3 missions so far... a lot of effort has clearly gone into tweaking all the unit rules to make them work better in the app. There are of course some negatives as well, but are mainly centered around the simplistic control of the imperial units. So even though some tactical elements, like stun, has become weaker, it still has its own interest to play against a more predictable opponent with more units. I'm very happy about the ability to just select what expansions I have and the app will then try to utilize them. I haven't seen a single ad in the app or any "offer" of buying more stuff, but it still makes me want to in a good way so to speak. If you enjoyed the campaign mode but wished for a more coop experience you want to try this!

YOU NEED A PHYSICAL COPY TO PLAY. I just thought I'd clear that up, this is a companion app to "Star Wars: Imperial Assault" the boardgame. Currently there are (3) 5 mission campaigns that allow your characters to progress from heroes to almost unstoppable killing machines. The missions are fun and last about 3 hours each while running the app and the in-between mission briefs/short stories and clean up purchasing new items and equipment. It allows complete 4 player Co-op, the only way i play.

The app works as intended. I have been able to play multiple games now and so far its been great. The AI system isn't always the best but it usually makes up for it by giving itself bonuses. It provides a good challenge for new players like myself. My main complaint is there is no undo button in the app. Sometimes this is an issue (for instance we once had an objective die and we forgot to mark it before we ended an activation which meant we couldn't delete the token for the game to know)

Very good companion app with only a few issues. + Solo play capability! + Great tutorial, albeit very wordy and sometimes overwhelming + Does a great job of storytelling and provides plenty of surprises. - Rule changes to imperial side were needed since they're automated by the app, which initially caused some confusion. Features needed in future release: undo/rewind option

Tried the first mission today of the Freedom Fighters campaign, really fun and challenging and stressful moments as the more imperial forces I took down more and more kept coming in. At one point royal guards show up along side Vader and things just got more hectic from there. Came out victorious in the end, can't wait to see what awaits me on the next mission. By the way for those of you that are new, this is a board game companion app. If you don't have the board game this app won't work for u

This COMPANION app, which is clearly stated, turns a 1 v 4 board game into an in depth story rich coop game The tutorial is long and tedious but necessary to play the game.....and only needs to be done once. It just takes patience. Do it once, learn it and then you never have to do it again. For those complaining that you can't play the empire. It was never the goal. That like playing "last of us," and complaining you can't play the infected. Would pay for dlc content and change review to 5

Great companion app! Everyone would like more content, but that should only be a positive for a FREE ! Almost all the 3-star or less reviews come from people who don't understand what this is. You could give them a free car, and they would complain it's not a house. I have had a blast playing this board game, and adding expansion pack DLC for free as I purchase physical copies.

The app is going strong. Had many bugs and issues at first, but the developers came through and fixed it. They also added a new game mode, Raids. I believe at this point there are 3 campaign and 2 raids. I hope they add more campaigns and raids, at least 1 for every box expansion! I also hope they add is more random content, like random stories, AI behouvor and random raids. This would give amazing reply value to this app, which currently is its weakness. Good job developers & FFG. Thanks!
