Digitally remastered in HD for mobile devices and with new, never-before-seen animated cutscenes, it’s time to run the cerebral marathon with Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

The tale begins as Professor Layton, a true English gentleman and famous archaeologist, drives to the remote settlement of St Mystere with his apprentice, Luke, in response to a request from the widow of a wealthy baron. The baron’s will indicates that the family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden somewhere within the village, and whoever finds it will inherit the whole of the Reinhold Estate. The Professor and Luke must search the town for clues leading to the precious heirloom.

Featuring a distinctive artistic style that oozes old-world charm, the game’s quirky cast of characters instantly comes to life. The animated cutscenes, remastered in HD, tell key parts of the tale in gorgeous detail. And ever-present in the background, the original soundtrack, beloved by many players, keenly captures the mood of the Layton universe.

With puzzles created by Akira Tago, author of the ‘Atama no Taisou’ (lit. ‘Head Gymnastics’) books, Professor Layton and the Curious Village brings together more than 100 brain teasers including slide puzzles, matchstick puzzles, and even trick questions to flex players’ observation, logic and critical thinking skills. In addition, rather than just selecting challenges from a list, players uncover puzzles through conversations with the villagers or by investigating their surroundings.

If you are obsessed with mind-bending puzzles, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is for you!

An absolute classic let down by poor touch controls. No fault to the game or puzzles or the story but the port from the DS is lazy without any attention to the difference between mobile touch screens for fingers and DS that uses a stylus. As a result the response is incredibly laggy and some puzzles especially the sliding puzzles are very difficult to manipulate. It's easy to miss out on story text if you tap after it hasn't advanced it can suddenly advance 2 in a row. A real shame.. please fix

Best mobile game I've ever played. I love the Layton games, and played them all before, but a mobile version worried me. It needn't have, the port is done with a lot of love with all parts of the game intact, and still plays tremendously. Yes you have to pay up front, but you reap the benefits from it. If you want to play the game again, this is a fantastic way to do so. And I've you never played one but like the idea of some good puzzles and great story line, you won't regret it. Hoping we get Pandora's Box localised soon!

This is a classic DS game that has been ported over quite nicely. The original game was designed with a stylus in mind so a touchscreen works very well. The price may seem high compared to most apps but keep in mind you're getting a full experience with no in game ads or monetization. This is a fantastic deal. This game is aimed for longer sessions. If you're looking for something to kill 2 minutes this isn't it, but it's great for a long ride or just playing at home.

The game has worked well for me so far, but PLEASE remove the constant "TOUCH!" prompt from the bottom screen, after over 20 puzzles I do understand that I need to touch the screen to progress. I can't read the puzzle explanations without the prompt constantly flashing over the text and making me dizzy and annoyed - and if I click on the screen, it disappears altogether...

An excellent remaster of this Ds classic, all of the art has been given a nice polish and the included charms are hard to find. The new cutscenes are great and sound just like the old cutscenes. I personally love how they managed to return the weekly puzzles, it also includes some of the pages of the old manual in the bonus section which I love. My only issue is that Layton's voice lines can be a bit quiet put that's trivial really. TLDR; Great remake for the fans, definitely would recomend.

This remake is truly perfect and brings back major nostalgia, however there is one issue that has been bothering me so far: Layton's voice sounds slightly muted compared to the others', and I find that it breaks the experience quite a lot. Is there any way to fix this? Do other people experience the same problem, and might they know a solution to it?

Amazing game. This was my favourite game years ago on the DS. I was happy to see it available on mobile. Purchased it yesterday and already completed it. I could not out it down. 9 hours in total it took me to complete. The puzzles really get you thinking. The overall storyline is amazing. No adverts. No crashes. No glitches. No in game purchses. Really can't wait for the next one. In the words of a certain character "Goodbye for now, Little village".

The game is a classic and I am extremely happy it is now available on modern platforms. The graphics look good on both my phone and tablet, however, the cutscenes look a little odd. The new content added isn't intrusive and feels like a nice bonus. The game feels surprisingly good without a stylus. I wish they gave us the option of playing the US and UK versions as they have some different puzzles and different voice actors. This version has the better UK voices.
